The Minister of MSME is Nitin Gadkari and the Minister of State is Pratap Chandra Sarangi since 31 May 2019.

1. Manufacturing Enterprises:- Which engaged in the manufacturing or production of goods  (Development and regulation Act, 1951) or employing plant and machinery in process the value addition to the final product. 
This Enterprises  are defined in terms of investment in Plant & Machinery.
2. Service Enterprises:- The enterprises includes providing services.
 This Enterprises are defined in terms of investment in equipment.
